Week 12

http://questgarden.com/124/13/8/110420113448/

This is the link to my draft web quest.  I would appreciate some feedback on my rubric.  Also if you see any gaping grammatical errors please let me know!  Or if you notice I need something that I overlooked...

I thought this assignment was simple to do ~ it just took a lot of time to think it out and find the references I wanted. What worries me is that when I think something worth 400 points is simple,  that's most likely because I forgot something or didn't go far enough in depth.  I had the same problem in Loretta and Tim's summer class over the "tech manual" assignment...  I wish I had gotten some feedback on that one, cause I missed the boat on that assignment!

This is just a draft.  I plan to play with it for a week until it is due next Saturday.  I have not scored it myself yet. I will do that next week as well.

Thanks!

  1. Hello Jennifer,

I just looked over your WebQuest...very, very cool. I like the colors and your WebQuest was very easy to read.

    Just two Points:
    1) On your process page you have this sentences; Next, your group will need to decide how you would like to convince the Egyptian leaders that they should create a government similar to the United States'. (no apostrophe behind States. There is an apostrophe behind the word States that needs to be removed. I did not see any other grammar errors, but I will be the first to say grammar is my weak spot. That is way I have others edit my papers.

The Second is just a Question; For your groups are you going to give a participation grade to ensure all students work together equally.

Overall, I love your WebQuest and if I had a third grade class I would use it or adapt your idea to meet the needs of another class or future event like you mentioned.

  2. @Carolyn ~ thanks for the feedback. I will check the first United States'. I was originally thinking there was a possessive there but I will indeed look it up to be sure! I do need to add a group work/problem solving component to the rubric. I was thinking of having them rate themselves and their team members as well. Do you think it is ok that my rubric focuses on formative checkpoints? I have my objectives listed too for the symbol but I think I need to continue to develop descriptions for three branches and the role of citizens and create two seperate categories for them.

  3. Jennifer,

I think as long as you have a method for the students rate themselves and their group in any form that works. I think your rubric is good. I think it is well done and meets the standards of this WebQuest.

Just a question about how you were able to add the comments/feedback to the bottom of your Conclusion Page. Both Candice and I have been trying to figure out how you did that. Could you please let me know how you did it.

  4. Sorry Carolyn, I have no idea. It fills it in automatically. :( I didn't realize it was there until you mentioned it.

  5. This is not a difficult assignment to complete - but it is a time consuming one- hence the 40%.
Make sure you grade your own WQ using the WQ rubric to get a sense of what your score will be.
